Fun with Robots incursion

Sydney Metro invites Stage 2 and Stage 3 teachers near Sydney Metro’s railway alignment to help their students get a taste of programming using an educational robot called Dash and an easy drag-and-drop visual coding tool called Blockly. 

Sydney Metro has designed a classroom-ready, syllabus-aligned workshop for Stage 2 and 3 students. Eligible schools* will have two weeks to borrow a classroom set of 13 Dash Robots and iPads with Challenge Mats and Cards. The program comes with presentation slides, video and facilitator guide. 

Students work in small groups to explore a series of challenges relating to Sydney Metro – Australia’s first fully-automated rail network.  

This self-paced program provides students with hands-on experience to use programming and test the functionality of “automated trains”. Students will have the opportunity to identify, organise and perform strategic roles within a group to solve a program. The program has been successfully trialled by more than 300 students from our local primary schools. 

Teachers must have access to large indoor or undercover space to facilitate workshop.
