Work is well underway on the two platforms at the new Pitt Street Station, 20 metres under the heart of the Sydney CBD.

The platforms are made from 681 precast concrete sections, which have been delivered and put into place in the two underground caverns.

The concrete slabs for the railway tracks have been poured, ahead of sleeper and track installation.

More than 56,000 tonnes of concrete will be poured to build the underground station, enough to fill 16 Olympic swimming pools.

Three tower cranes are being used at the station site to deliver materials.

At the Pitt Street North and South sites, work is progressing on the basement levels. Integrated station developments are being delivered at these sites.
