This is the first look at the completed underground Crows Nest station “box”.

This new metro station will be the first stop for metro services leaving Chatswood and headed towards the Sydney CBD when Sydney Metro is extended from the North West in 2024.

More than 365,000 tonnes of crushed rock was excavated at Crows Nest to get to the station’s final depth of 25 metres – enough to fill 56 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The Crows Nest station box and the completed 3.6-kilometre-long twin tunnels between Chatswood and Crows Nest have been handed over to the next contractor, Systems Connect, to install metro railway tracks, power, signalling and communication systems to turn the new tunnels into a working railway.
