Celebrating Five Years of the Metro North West Line
27.05.2024
Sydney Metro is celebrating five years of the game-changing Metro North West Line, with over 84 million customer journeys and 18 million kilometres travelled since opening.
In May 2019, the Metro North West Line provided a rail link to the communities of North West Sydney for the first time and this year, the line will be extended into the CBD with the opening of the city section of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.
Metro North West is the only fully accessible railway line in Sydney, with 47 lifts and 78 escalators across 13 stations.
Since opening, the Metro North West Line has maintained an average Customer Satisfaction rating of 98 percent and reliability running of more than 99 percent.
The dedicated Operations & Customer Experience team has also doubled its workforce since operations began with now 200 experienced team members making the metro journey as seamless as possible.
It’s been a great five years bringing turn-up-and-go metro services to North West Sydney locals and it won’t be long before these services will be extended into the Sydney CBD this year and beyond to Bankstown in 2025.
This means locals will have a direct train service into the CBD, with stops at Victoria Cross in North Sydney, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Gadigal Station in the CBD and Central.
This is an exciting milestone for the line as Sydney Metro continues to deliver world-class services to Sydneysiders.
